What should you know before posting to Instagram from Claude Cowork?

Cowork handles these rules for you, but knowing them explains why it sometimes asks a follow-up question before scheduling.

✓Instagram requires an image or video; text-only posts are not possible. Always point Cowork at a media file.
✓post_type is required: post for the feed or story for stories. Stories take a single media item.
✓Captions are capped at 2,200 characters, and Instagram counts hashtags toward that limit.

Is Claude Cowork different from the Claude.ai Postiz connector for Instagram?

The posting flow is the same, but Cowork runs on your desktop and can read the photo or video straight from a local folder or Google Drive. Claude.ai uses the official directory connector, which covers scheduling but not image or video generation; the custom MCP link in Cowork has the full toolset.
