How to set up Postiz for Lemmy in Perplexity Computer

Setup takes two steps: add Postiz as a custom MCP connector in Perplexity (OAuth, no API key) or install the Postiz CLI skill, then connect your Lemmy account in Postiz. After that, you just ask.

Lemmy rules Perplexity Computer has to respect

Lemmy enforces a few rules on every post. Postiz exposes them as settings, and Perplexity Computer applies them, but knowing them helps you phrase the request.

✓Lemmy post titles are limited to 200 characters.
✓Add url for link posts; leave it out for text posts.

How does Computer handle link posts versus text posts on Lemmy?

Include a URL and Computer sets the url field, so Lemmy renders a link post with the page preview. Leave the URL out and the content is a text post. Titles are capped at 200 characters in both cases, and Computer keeps them under that limit automatically.

Do I need a Postiz API key to post to Lemmy from Computer?

Not with the MCP connector. Perplexity signs in to Postiz over OAuth with your own account, so Computer only uses the Lemmy account you connected. The CLI skill path (npx skills add gitroomhq/postiz-agent) is the alternative and reads POSTIZ_API_KEY from Computer's sandbox environment.

Is posting to Lemmy from Computer the same as posting to Reddit?

They are similar but separate channels. Both use a communities array with titles and post types, but Lemmy communities live on the fediverse instance you connected and have no flair system, while Reddit may require flairs. Computer can post to both in one request with the right settings for each.
