How to set up Postiz for YouTube in Perplexity Computer

Setup takes two steps: add Postiz as a custom MCP connector in Perplexity (OAuth, no API key) or install the Postiz CLI skill, then connect your YouTube account in Postiz. After that, you just ask.

YouTube rules Perplexity Computer has to respect

YouTube enforces a few rules on every post. Postiz exposes them as settings, and Perplexity Computer applies them, but knowing them helps you phrase the request.

✓A video file is required; YouTube posts cannot be text-only. Computer uploads the file through Postiz first.
✓Titles must be 2 to 100 characters. Descriptions can run to 5,000 characters.
✓type is required and must be public, unlisted, or private.
✓Custom thumbnails need a separate upload; Computer passes the thumbnail id and path in the settings.
✓Declare selfDeclaredMadeForKids as yes or no when the audience matters; YouTube treats it as a compliance setting.

How do I upload a video to YouTube from Perplexity Computer?

Add Postiz as a custom remote connector in Perplexity settings with the MCP URL https://mcp.postiz.com/mcp-oauth-dynamic and OAuth, and connect your YouTube channel in Postiz. Then give Computer the video file, a title, and a time. It uploads the media through Postiz, fills the YouTube settings, and schedules the publish.

Can Perplexity Computer set a custom YouTube thumbnail?

Yes. Mention the thumbnail image and Computer uploads it through Postiz, then passes its id and public path in the thumbnail setting when it creates the YouTube post. The thumbnail is applied when the video goes live at the scheduled time.

How does Perplexity Computer choose YouTube visibility?

The YouTube type setting is required and takes public, unlisted, or private. Say the word in your request, for example upload as unlisted for review, and Computer sets it. If you say nothing, it should ask or default to a safe choice such as private rather than publishing publicly.

Do I need a Postiz API key to publish YouTube videos from Computer?

Not with the MCP connector. Perplexity signs in to Postiz with your own account over OAuth, and Computer can only use the YouTube channel you connected. The CLI skill path (npx skills add gitroomhq/postiz-agent) is the alternative and reads POSTIZ_API_KEY from Computer's sandbox environment.

Can Perplexity Computer also post the YouTube link on other platforms?

Yes. In the same request, ask Computer to share the video on X, LinkedIn, or Facebook once it is scheduled. It creates one Postiz post per channel with that platform's settings, so the YouTube upload and the promotional posts are queued together and reported back in one summary.
